What Is This?
AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT answer from whatever they picked up during training. That information can be outdated, incomplete, or simply wrong about our products. The DWE Docs Plugin / MCP Server gives the assistant a direct line to this documentation site. Once connected, it looks up the real page before answering you.You do not need to be a programmer. Setup is a one-time copy-and-paste of a single web address, and takes about a minute.
The Address
This is the only thing you need to copy:The first two tools are read-only. The third only sends a message to our docs team. The plugin can see this public documentation site and nothing else — not your files, your hardware, or anything in your account.

Available on Free, Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans. Free accounts are limited to one custom connector.
1
Open your connector settings
Open Settings, then under the Customize heading select Connectors.
2
Add a custom connector
Click the Add button in the top right, then choose Add custom connector.
3
Enter the name and address
Name it exactly
DWE — that name becomes the shorthand you type in chat — and paste https://docs.dwe.ai/mcp into the Remote MCP server URL field.Leave Advanced settings alone — our server needs no authentication, so the OAuth fields stay empty. Click Add.4
Click Connect
Adding the connector does not switch it on. On the page that appears, click Connect. You should then see Connected to DWE.
5
Allow the read-only tools
On the same page, find Tool permissions. Set the Read-only tools dropdown to Always allow so the assistant can search the docs without interrupting you.Leave Write/delete tools on Needs approval. That group holds only the feedback tool, and you should be asked before anything is sent.
6
Check it is on in your chat
In any conversation, click the + button to the left of the message box, then Connectors. DWE should already be toggled on.
On Team and Enterprise plans, an organization owner has to add the connector first under Organization settings > Connectors. After that, members find it under Customize > Connectors and click Connect.
Menu names in Claude and ChatGPT change from time to time. If a step above does not match what you see, look for wherever your assistant lists Connectors, Plugins, or Apps, and find the option to add a custom one by URL.
Using It
Once it is connected, ask your questions normally — the assistant reaches for the docs on its own when a question is about our products. To point it at the documentation explicitly, type@DWE in your message:
DWE: the name you give the connector is the shorthand you type.
Troubleshooting

Two things to check. First, adding the plugin is not the same as connecting it — open it in your settings and confirm it says Connected. Second, check it is switched on for your conversation. You can also point it at the docs explicitly by typing

In ChatGPT, custom plugins are hidden until developer mode is switched on under Settings > Security and login. In both Claude and ChatGPT, use the web app rather than a mobile app.

Set the read tools to run without prompting. In Claude, set Read-only tools to Always allow. In ChatGPT, set the plugin’s Permissions to Allow read actions.

Check the address for typos — it must be exactly

Ask it to cite the page it used, then check that page directly. If our documentation is wrong, tell the assistant to report it — the plugin includes a feedback tool that sends the problem to our docs team. You can also email support@dwe.ai.
